Faith-based Politics or ‘Themocracy’?

Haven't we had enough of that already? Well, that depends on what you mean by ‘faith'. George Bush apparently believes that ‘faith' means the ‘Christian faith'. He's wrong. There are many faiths (in this sense) and all faith-based states, no matter whether Christian, Jewish, Hindu or Muslim, always ended up murdering and suppressing believers of other faiths. So let's first be clear about what we mean by ‘faith'.

RENEWED ARCO

ARCO is undergoing a face-lift. First of all, it will now be published in Saba and Statia as well as in Bonaire, just as our January 2008 edition was.

Secondly, ARCO will now be distri-buted house to house in all three islands. This means 6.000 copies in Bonaire, 1.050 copies in Statia and 450 copies in Saba. In addition, 1.000 co-pies will be distributed in Curaçao

SABA & STATIA ARE NOT REALLY HELPING

United we stand
The BES-islands have to band together in the constitutional negotiations with Holland. Not because Holland is the ‘enemy’, as for 50 years our politicians have told us. But simply because negotiations are negotiations. If the BES-islands do not co-operate and co-ordinate well, they will lose out unnecessarily.

‘ACCEPTABLE’ IS NOT ‘EQUAL’

There is still some resistence to the concept of equality for the citizens of Bonaire, Statia and Saba (‘BES’), which are to become an integral part of Holland. The resistence is understandable, but incorrect. And in the end, equality will win anyway. The only question is when? Our representatives (Anthony, Burney, Ramonsito) were in Holland for negotiations at the end of January.
