ORGANIZED DISORGANIZATION

When the settlers arrived in the ‘New World’ (the American continent), they had to re-invent  everything. Apart from the scant items they had brought along, they had to build everything anew.

As they pushed farther West, there were hardly any supplies, so they were again forced to improvize. On small Caribbean islands it is still the case that we often have to invent things anew, without being able to rely on organized knowledge. It simply is not available. We therefore have to know a little bit of everything. Specialization is rare on our islands.  

These circumstances have given us a tremendous talent for improvization. The downside is that it easily turns into ‘organized disorganization’.  Europeans,   on
the other hand, rely mostly on organization. The best thing we can ever do, is to combine these talents. That’s unbeatable!
