    The Foundation Animal Welfare in Bonaire (FAWB) focuses on enforcing animal protection laws, as set out in the articles of association (constitution) of the Foundation.

     

    The foundation's objectives are:

     

    1. To support the welfare of all animals on Bonaire, domestic animals as well animals living in the wild.

    2. To recruit, school and train volunteers in order to implement the objectives.

    3. To inform the community about the well-being of animals in order to stimulate a positive attitude, especially focusing on the young people on Bonaire.

    4. To monitor existing and future organizations, privately owned or commercial (hotels /shops) to assist in effective animal care.

    5. To monitor farm stock activities and related activities, not only limited to the slaughterhouse.

    6. To monitor activities which are potentially harmful for animals, including water sports, fishing, the visiting of caves.

    7. To support existing and future organizations concerning care and welfare of animals

    8. To develop surveillance protocols concerning, sterilizations, vaccinations and euthanasia, as well as basic animal care.

    9. To promote laws concerning the welfare of animals.

    10. To develop the definitions of "animal abuse", "animal assault" and "animal neglect" and have these definitions documented within educational programs .

    11. To monitor the results of existing and future laws concerning animal welfare.

    12. To assist and initiate the counting of animals.

    13. To initiate programs for sterilization, vaccination and to introduce in a broad sense, dog tags and a license to keep special animal species.

    14. When available funds and facilities allow this: to participate in rescue operations.

    15. To obtain land and/or facilities which are necessary for the care and recovery of rescued animals.

    16. To build facilities for the care and recovery of rescued animals and similar related activities.

    17. To establish and staff a phone emergency line for the public to report their concern, observations and suggestions concerning the welfare of animals on Bonaire. Declarations will be documented and advice or referral to the specific person or authority will be given.

    18. To establish a network of foster homes to supply the temporary shelter for rescued animals.

    19. When necessary, supply the transportation of rescued animals to the available facility.

    20. To maintain contact with the local authorities, the media, the veterinarians and others, concerning the welfare of animals.
